meaningless fake environmentalism
Why have governor Hochul and mayor Adams insisted on banning gas stoves for houses and restaurants? They claim it's to save the environment, but that's the most ludicrous excuse ever. Stoves use such a small amount of gas, banning them won't effect the environment at all. Then they claim that gas stoves, as opposed to electric ones, cause asthma and other respiratory diseases. Seriously?? More likely causes would be unburned vaporized cooking oil, smoke from burnt food, aerosolized spices. How are they going to ban that?
Yet, I notice that many of the MTA's buses are fueled by natural gas, which is commendable since they pollute less than diesel and are quieter too. But the quantity of natural gas they consume is far far greater than all the gas stoves that residents love. So natural gas is great for buses, but bad for stoves? Talk about arrogance and duplicity. what chutzpah.
We must allow homeowners and restauranteurs the freedom to use whatever fuel they desire, whether it's wood-fired pizza ovens, gas appliances, or electric appliances. People must have the freedom of choice.
And ... get rid of those 1.6 gallon toilets, bring back toilets that work, that don't clog easily, work quietly and refill quickly.
